March On Fairbanks, Hrrrl Scouts, Fairbanks Activists Forum (FAF), and Fairbanks Climate Action Coalition are bringing you the 2018 Women’s March on Fairbanks, and we are proud that this second-annual event is happening DOWNTOWN!
WHAT: A rally, a march, and a unified effort toward progress in Fairbanks and around the world
WHEN: January 20th, from 11 am – 1 pm
WHERE: Meet at Golden Heart Plaza for a pre-march rally beginning at 11. March will commence at noon from the plaza.
WHY: To share power and space, and to join other marchers around the globe in solidarity that supports action toward women’s rights.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
Parking: There is a TON of free parking in the garage on 2nd and Lacey, and it’s less than a 5-minute walk to Golden Heart Plaza from there!
Public Transportation: The city bus funnels riders into the transit Center at 5th and Cushman from all over town! Stay tuned to the Downtown Fairbanks Facebook page for upcoming info regarding how YOU can ride public transit to the march!
Donations: March on Fairbanks is taking donations that will be utilized in the submission of a letter to the editor in the Fairbanks Daily News Miner.
Commerce: Venue is offering its space as a warm-up destination for marchers, and offering discounts to them as well! The Hub is also open for warm-up and community gathering.
Booths: So far, 12 booths have signed up to host space in Venue and The Hub! Booth space so far includes Planned Parenthood, Center for Nonviolent Living, League of Women Voters, UAF GSA, Fairbanks Queers and Allies, NAACP, Interior Democrats, Fairbanks Native Association, Hrrrl Scouts, FAF, Native Movement, and FCAC.
