- What We Do
- Midnight Sun Festival
Joe spend a great deal of time hiking in the woods of Goldstream Valley. He looks, always searching for intriguing aspects of light and shade. Using a
camera to record images, he builds up a file, which becomes a reference point for his paintings.
Sometimes the paintings are literal as he can make them from the photos; others are more abstracted. It all depends on his emotional response or what he wishes to say to the viewer. The photos only serve as a jumping off point, which he eventually leaves behind. Then the paint speaks for itself, traveling to where ever his hand and heart may take it.
Joe’s new oil paintings are stunning, portraying his love of Fairbanks forests.
