Our Vision
Downtown Fairbanks is a vital, energetic, attractive center of business and community.
Our Mission
“Identify and fill critical social service gaps, lessening the burdens of government while at the same time maintaining the vitality and improving the overall quality of life in downtown Fairbanks.”
Our Organization
The Downtown Association of Fairbanks formed in 1979 as a 501(c)(4) civic league for the promotion of social welfare. In 2006, the original corporation formed a subsidiary 501(c)(3) charitable organization the Downtown Association of Fairbanks Community Services, Inc, to further downtown revitalization. In 2022, the members of the original corporation voted to dissolve and the 501(c)(3) charitable organization continues.
Our Focus
We partner with the City of Fairbanks to fund the Community Service Patrol program to meet the intensive needs of chronically inebriated people in public places. We advocate that public services meet the differing needs of downtown’s many daily users and residents. We host “signature” community events – the Midnight and Winter Solstice Festivals.
