The City of Fairbanks continues the Storefront Improvement Incentive (SII). The SII is a grant opportunity that provides a 50% match of up to $50,000 for businesses and non-profit organizations in downtown Fairbanks to renovate the exterior appearance of their buildings. This program is designed to the overall aesthetic appeal and economic vibrancy of the downtown area. The program area is from 1st to 5th Avenue and Turner Street to Noble Street. Visit the City’s website for more information and application.
Conneced to improving downtown’s exterior appearances, the City is requesting Information for the log cabin on 1st Avenue. The Request for Information (RFI) is to gather input from interested organizations regarding potential leasing and use of the cabin located at 550 1st Avenue. The site has, for many years, been the home of the Yukon Quest who is vacating the space by May 1. The City is exploring future uses that align with its broader goals for economic rejuvenation, increased foot traffic, and positive activation of Downtown Fairbanks.
