UAF Department of Art is presenting David Glover’s BFA Exhibition “Art of The Mudsuckle Ritual” in the UAF Art Gallery from Monday, Oct 23, 2023 through Friday, November 3, 2023, with a closing reception from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on November 3rd.
Glover is an Alaskan illustrator and a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. His work in “Art of The Mudsuckle Ritual” features whimsical art exploring themes of nostalgia and fantasy in vivid color.
Glover approaches art as a visual journal, bringing to life his thoughts, feelings, and ideas through watercolor, charcoal, and digital mediums. He has written and illustrated several books, including “Hogwash: An Alaskan Animal Adventure Book”, and “The Mudsuckle Ritual: A Bonehead Detectives Mystery” that headlines his exhibition.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All exhibitions are free and open to the public. The UAF Art Gallery is located inside the Fine Arts Complex on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ campus at 1706 Tanana Loop.
The UAF Art Department encourages and promotes independent, original, innovative and critical thinking skills and prepares students for a career in art. BFA Computer Art majors can choose their focus within the digital arts, ranging from installation art, digital illustrations to 3-D animation. For drawing students, the University of Alaska emphasizes representational drawing skills with attention to historical and contemporary conventions as well as abstraction and conceptual work.
