Gail Priday presents her most recent Paintings, Small Works. ” I am especially interested in the features of the northern forest that might be overlooked if I moved too quickly. The small ever-changing treasures up close and underfoot are most frequently the subjects of my work. Alaska is known for its awe-inspiring mountains and expansive sky. However, it is the blooming and decaying forest floor, fungus and individual trees that consistently capture my attention. I come in contact with so many trees on a daily basis. Growing along local trails and surrounding my home, each one is so magnificently distinctive. Changes in seasons and light heighten the unique characteristics of each. This group of paintings represents a year of local trees and their immediate surroundings.”
