The City of Fairbanks and the Downtown Association invite you to a Deescalation Workshop on Wednesday, May 20, from 8:30–10:00 AM at the Fairbanks Community & Dog Mushing Museum (top floor of the Co‑Op Plaza, 535 2nd Avenue).  You’ll learn about community response teams and principles of de-escalation you can use right away, and you’ll have a chance to connect with other businesses in the downtown core. The City of Fairbanks will lead the training. Learn how to:

  • Bring a calm presence to a tense situation
  • Active listening and redirection for anxious and challenging behavior
  • Support for business employees with handling a trespass & requesting alternative teams
  • How to request community response teams for intoxication, crisis, and other health needs

Come as you are. Coffee and pastries will be provided.  For more information call 907-378-1253.
