The Fairbanks Arts Association features the art of Wayne Jex and Cynthia West during a First Friday reception in the Bear Gallery. Jex is a photographer and West is a painter.
“A long-time friend who has seen a lot of my photography told me that I ‘do serenity well.’ I hope that is one thing that comes through in most of my images – at least a momentary respite from these troubled times,” said Jex on his photographs.

West is a life-long Alaskan and part of five generations who have called Fairbanks home. She thrives outdoors surrounded by nature. It’s outdoors where she is able to replenish her creative spirit and find inspiration for her art. West is fascinated with organic, natural shapes and is delighted by the endless beauty and inspiration found outdoors.
The Bear Gallery will also display works by Brianna Reagan, the gallery’s Gift Shop Artist of the Month. Reagan is also the featured artist of the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. Artist Gael Murakami is featured in the gallery’s Watercolor Corner.
The First Friday reception is from 5-8PM on July 7 inside the Bear Gallery at Pioneer Park.
