First Friday in June

Visit downtown Fairbanks and its environs on June 6 for several First Friday shows, including:

2PM @ Nature’s ReLeaf — Nature’s ReLeaf will be grilling outdoors with a fellow vendor in front of their shop from 2-8pm. New “Nature’s ReLeaf” designs, by various Alaskan artists, will be on display inside the shop.

4PM @ Alaska Goldworks — Alaska Goldworks is excited to welcome you to the grand opening of Fairbanks’ newest fine jewelry design studio! The event kicks-off with a ribbon cutting at 4pm, and you’re invited to stop by any time between 4-8pm to help them celebrate. Browse their handcrafted jewelry collections, visit with their goldsmith and special guest artists, explore their cozy new studio, enjoy light refreshments, and enter to win prizes, including gold nugget jewelry!

5PM @ Bear Gallery in Pioneer Park — Join Fairbanks Arts in the Bear Gallery this June for BOOKS AS ART 4, the fourth in a celebrated series of exhibitions showcasing the vibrant creativity and evolving practices of book artists in the Interior Alaska community. This exhibit highlights work rooted in familiar structures and techniques, alongside boundary-pushing interpretations that reimagine the book as a visual and tactile art form. Featured projects include “The Hornbook Collection: Reimagining an Historical Structure”, “Contemporary Meets Vintage: Book Artists Respond” and “The ABC Project: A Collection of Abecedaries”. This exhibition will run from June 6-June 28.

5PM @ Fairbanks Community & Dog Mushing Museum — This First Friday event is to showcase the watercolor works of a few of Vladimir Zhikhartsev’s students: Caroline Carter, Nadia Fedotova, Phoebe Flanagan, Teresa Hall, Helen Howard, Margaret Kellogg, Dana Novak, Jane Sellin, and Melanie Werdon. These artists enjoy painting together in classes throughout the Fairbanks winter at Vladimir’s art studio. This even is from 5-8pm. The museum is upstairs in the Co-Op Building/downtown on 2nd Ave.

5PM @ 2 Street Gallery — Lyndsi Harris, using only birch bark and tanned salmon skin, has carefully embroidered unique artwork on display for First Friday. The show is entitled “When The Weather Is Fine.” See the gifts summer brings through Lyndsi’s eyes!

5PM @ Gather — What if instead of thinking about the “animal kingdom” or “plant kingdom,” we thought about nature as family? Three talented artists have flown up from Oregon and California to bring this concept to life. Tim Musso captures the plant world through striking woodcut prints inspired by his wilderness adventures; Andrew Myers creates dreamy, story-filled artwork featuring animals with rich inner lives; and Chris Adams dives into the fascinating world of mushrooms and fungi—the hidden networks that actually connect and feed the forest. This exhibition opens on June 6 and will run until July 31.

5:30PM @ Fairbanks Children’s Museum — The Fairbanks Children’s Museum hosts their monthly “Kids’ Night In” First Friday event. On the first Friday of every month, the museum encourages First Friday attendees to drop their kiddos off at the museum for a pizza party and activities; freeing the adults up for a date night and a First Friday walkabout. The event is $30/per child, with members receiving a 10% discount. Kids must be at least 4 years old and potty trained.
