5PM @ Gather Fairbanks — Visit our friends at Gather Fairbanks for “Held: What We Choose to Care For and Preserve”, a group printmaking exhibition. This showcase explores themes of care, landscape, ecology, memory, and the body through the medium of printmaking. These works will “reflect on what it means to hold stories, relationships, and environments, and how printmaking itself carries images forward through pressure, repetition, and patience.” Both Solstice Books Fairbanks and Alaskan Mystic Wonders will be open during the event. The exhibit begins at 5PM this Friday.
5PM @ Well Street Art Gallery — Well Street Art Gallery is showcasing photography made both with and without cameras! Alice Bailey will exhibit her photogravure pieces in “Kuskokwim Photogravures”; Hannah Perrine Mode will feature cynaotypes and ceramic knots; and J.R. Ancheta will display photographic works titled “Kandahar.” These exhibits will run all month, but the First Friday meet-and-greets will be from 5-8PM.
5PM @ 2 Street Art Gallery — Join the wonderful artists at 2 Street Gallery for a special First Friday show this week honoring metalsmith Mary Kate Denkewalter. See original works, as well as pieces begun by Mary Kaye and finished by UAF metalsmithing students. These items will be for sale and proceeds will go to the Alaska Metal Arts Guild scholarship fund. 5-8PM.
5:30PM @ Fairbanks Children’s Museum — The Fairbanks Children’s Museum hosts their monthly “Kids’ Night In” First Friday event. On the first Friday of every month, the museum encourages First Friday attendees to drop their kiddos off at the museum for a pizza party and activities; freeing the adults up for a date night and a First Friday walkabout. The event is $30/per child, with members receiving a 10% discount. Kids must be at least 4 years old and potty trained.
