Visit downtown on 3/7 for several First Friday shows, including:
5PM @ Bear Gallery in Pioneer Park — Don’t miss this vibrant student art show that Fairbanks Arts and the community look forward to every March! Art is key to a complete education and is a powerful vehicle for expression, exploration, and skill-building. Fairbanks Arts is proud to present the Up With Art student art exhibition in partnership with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD); the event will feature five hundred pieces of student artwork.
5PM @ Gather — Discover a place where nature and form blend seamlessly. In this deeply personal collection, artist Elizabeth Jane invites you to explore the spaces where emotion meets imagination and reality softens into something more romantic and reflective. Figures come into focus and fade again, colors carry quiet memories, and soft edges hint at stories waiting to be told.
5PM @ 2 Street Gallery — Maïté Agopian’s “A Small World of Wooden Puppets“ will feature at 2 Street Gallery. Agopian became a puppeteer after two decades in education and outreach. Through teaching, building and creating her own shows, she uses the power of puppetry and visual storytelling to create connections, inspire, and enhance learning environments. While she uses various materials to make puppets, she particularly enjoys working with wood and its derivatives (paper, cardboard, etc).
5:30PM @ Fairbanks Children’s Museum — The Fairbanks Children’s Museum hosts their monthly “Kids’ Night In” First Friday event. On the first Friday of every month, the museum encourages First Friday attendees to drop their kiddos off at the museum for a pizza party and activities; freeing the adults up for a date night and a First Friday walkabout. The event is $30/per child, with members receiving a 10% discount. Kids must be at least 4 years old and potty trained.
6PM @ The Basement — Visit The Basement for First Friday, featuring the beautiful and powerful art of local artist Kevin Duvall.
