NPS celebrates 101st with birthday party at MTCVC

In 2017, America’s National Parks turn 101 years old. The public is invited to the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center on Thursday, August 24th to learn about Alaska’s National Parks and Preserves. NPS staff will feature a presentation about the Artist-in-Residence program, show films about Alaska’s national parks and even celebrate with a cake!

The day’s events include:

  • a lecture and meet-and-greet featuring Jennifer Moss, the 2017 Artist-in-Residence at 11AM
  • a chance to sing “Happy Birthday” and eat cake in celebration at Noon and
  • a showing of films and programs on Alaska’s parks and preserves from 1-4PM

Jennifer Moss, the 2017 Artist-in-Residence for the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, is an Alaskan artist who uses contemporary visual elements to interpret the natural environment through painting and digital works. You can read more about Moss and view her work at jmossart.com.
